Luke Quilter

Luke has a wealth of experience in search marketing and brand management coupled with an entrepreneurial spirit that propels him to use his knowledge and experience to further himself, his business and others.

Luke started his first business at the tender age of 18 whilst reading marketing at university.  He continued his professional training through the Chartered Institute of Marketing.  Luke went on to work at Holiday Extras, managing the online marketing team of 17, before becoming the brand manager for their Airparks brand.

In 2008, Luke took the leap to start his second business when he was still just 25 years old.  Sleeping Giant Media was run part time from his living room alongside continued full time work and studying for his masters in marketing.  In 2009 Luke left his employment and took the business full time.  A year later, Sleeping Giant Media was a finalist for the Best Start Up Business at the Invicta Chamber business awards.  This success continued; in 2011, Luke won the accolade of KEiBA Young Entrepreneur and was appointed to the board of trustees for the Kent Foundation.

In 2012, Luke was honoured with carrying the Olympic torch through his hometown of Hythe.  2013 has been no less eventful.  Luke was shortlisted for Entrepreneur of the Year at the Kent Invicta Chamber Business Awards and Sleeping Giant Media were shortlisted for a further two awards, receiving special mention from the chief executive of the Chamber.

In less than four years, Sleeping Giant Media has grown from two people working part time in a living room to a staff of nearly 20 housed in the penthouse of Shepway District Council’s Civic Centre building overlooking the whole of Folkestone.

Luke is currently writing a book on the psychology of setting up in business.  He is an experienced trainer and speaker on search engine optimisation, pay per click advertising, social media and business start ups.
